Gearing up for Stage One!

The first stage of the Cape Pioneer Trek is just around the corner on 17 October 2011 and Team Wilde is gearing up to compete against 250 other teams.

Stage one of the six stage race is from Oudtshoorn to Calitzdorp with a distance of 107km and a vertical ascent of 2161m.

Good luck Team Wilde!

Team Wilde on the right track

As always, Team Wilde is making the spokes turn as hard as fruit presses. On Saturday 23 June 2011, Timo Cooper, Reniell Matthysen, Kabous Marra and Robert King participated in this year’s Wolseley Mountain Bike Race. Sporting a Wilde cycling shirt (Reniell) and unyielding game faces, the team made the muscle mutilating track look like child’s play. Timo kicked dust in the eyes of other cyclists, finishing in first place! Reniell ended in an impressive third place, while Kabous and Robert made us proud, completing the race in good time together as a team.

The four cyclists are now hard at work, preparing for the upcoming Cape Pioneer trek, which takes place in October. If the Wolseley race is anything to go by, the Trek is sure to be a pushover. Well done, Team!

Wilde will fuel the pioneers

Wilde Fruit Juice will sponsor all the meals at the DCM Cape Pioneer Trek, ensuring that everyone is fueled to give their best between 18 and 23 October 2010.

This year, the new-look DCM Cape Pioneer Trek will keep traversing cycling’s heartland by including an additional challenging route, which will cover approximately 30% of untouched mountain biking terrain. Riders can be sure that route quality will not be compromised for anything – so prepare yourself to be thrilled. The dedicated team of experienced therapists will also be present to offer riders sports massage sessions and even kinesiology taping – please note that these sessions have to be pre-booked and paid. Participants will also have the option of upgrading their rider package – with additional luxuries to ensure a comfortable experience of the grueling event.

The DCM Cape Pioneer Trek will continue its green initiative by making the event as eco-friendly as possible. To make a significant difference, the initiative will be taken further by incorporating a sustainable tree planting project. Between 20 and 30 indigenous trees will be planted in each area.

The DCM Cape Pioneer Trek is one to diarise, so grab that pen and circle the 18th to the 23rd of October 2010. Wilde will see you there.

The Cape Pioneer Trek 2009 set a standard with a fantastic route, great service from the crew, as well as a hospitality from the community that only the platteland can offer.

Wilde Fruit Juice is excited to once again be part of the Cape Pioneer Trek. This year’s route will only be unveiled on the 17th of May 2010, but here is a little appetiser of what to expect: distances will remain more or less the same, and we will visit the same towns for 2010, maybe not in the same order. The Cape Pioneer Trek 2010 aims to offer riders an unique African experience.

The Cape Pioneer Trek takes place from the 18th to the 23rd of October 2010, and will continue in the pioneering spirit of the race to unveil the hidden gems of the mountain biking world found in the Karoo and the Garden Route.
